Starting Small

Not so long ago, replacing an inexpensive broken gear on a laser printer required an expensive solution—the purchase of the entire assembly to replace the one broken part. Recognizing a need for a source of spare parts for the service industry, Parts Now! was created in March of 1989 in Monona, WI. A house and garage served as the initial site of the business where a respectable $305,000 in sales was generated—an excellent beginning and a sign of better times ahead.

Rapid Growth

Inventory, which in the beginning contained only a handful of spare parts kept in a chest of drawers, soon included every available part for HP LaserJet printers. The manufacturing end of the business also realized considerable growth—first with fuser rebuilding, later with circuit board repair. By 1993, the company’s revenues had grown a staggering 2,329% from its first year, and in 1994 Parts Now! earned the first of three consecutive Inc. 500 listings.

Concentrated Focus

The name Parts Now! has become synonymous with anything to do with computer printers: parts, whole unit printers, service manuals, training, service, technical support, and supplies. This concentrated focus on one industry has allowed Parts Now! to channel all energies towards becoming a one-stop shop for all computer printer needs.

Industry Leader

Today, the company is the largest computer printer parts distributor in the world, carrying the most extensive inventory in the industry—over $9 million worth—and realized 2003 sales of over $86 million. Furthermore, Parts Now! is the largest supplier of HP, Lexmark, and Canon printer parts.

In 2002, a group of investors acquired Minneapolis, MN-based Katun Corporation, affiliating the company with Parts Now!. Katun is the world's leading independent supplier of OEM-alternative parts and supplies for the business equipment industry, specifically copiers. Others have recognized Parts Now!’s achievements as well. The company earned an HP Certificate of Excellence for highest part sales volume, and is the only two-time winner of the Lexmark Master Parts Distributor of the Year. Parts Now! was also named the Canon Parts Distributor of the Year from 1999 to 2001 by Canon U.S.A., Inc.

Locally, Parts Now! has won the 2001 Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment Award, and in early 2002, received the honor of winning a 2001 Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year Award in the area of "Remarkable Recycling Solutions."
